Frequently Asked Questions

Why do Potion and Evolution Stone prices go up in the Shop, while Safari Passes stay ₽500?
In shop.js, most items carry a +50% hoarding surcharge (PRICE_STEP = 0.5) per copy currently sitting in your inventory so you cannot infinitely stockpile consumables. Once you spend the item in battle or in the PC, its price drops back to base cost. Safari Passes explicitly set priceStep: 0, so they always cost a flat ₽500.
Does the Safari Zone have duplicate protection (pity)?
Yes! In pokemon.js, species you already own have their encounter weight multiplied by OWNED_WEIGHT = 0.2 (making unowned species 5x more likely to appear than owned ones). If you still roll a duplicate, the Safari Zone grants you a free Potion (+35 HP battle heal) as compensation.
Can you catch Legendary or Mythical Pokémon in the Safari Zone?
No. The Safari Zone encounter pool contains all ~312 non-legendary, non-mythical base evolution roots (prev == null). Higher-stage evolutions are unlocked by leveling or using Shop evolution items, while the 51 Legendaries and Mythicals are purchased in The Lab.
Is the Game Corner profitable in Pokemon Arena 2D?
Yes, if you plan your 3 swaps carefully. Random mashing returns ~82% RTP, but prioritizing 4-matches (2x payout), 5-matches (4x payout), Tier 4–5 symbols (purple/orange frames), and multi-step tumble cascades (+0.5x combo per cascade) averages around +₽8 net profit per ₽15 spin.

How Does the Safari Zone Work in Pokemon Arena 2D?

The Safari Zone is your primary engine for collecting the ~312 non-legendary base evolution families across Gen 1–6 (Kanto through Kalos) and unlocking their PC BST HP Bonuses.

Verified Safari Zone Mechanics (pokemon.js)

  1. Flat ₽500 Safari Pass (priceStep: 0): Every admission requires 1 Safari Pass, purchased in The Shop for ₽500. Unlike battle consumables, Safari Passes never increase in price no matter how many you buy.
  2. Base-Form Encounter Pool (catchable): The Safari Zone spawns base evolution roots (prev == null) that are not Legendary or Mythical—plus strong single-stage Pokémon like Lapras (535 BST), Aerodactyl (515 BST), Tauros (490 BST), Pinsir (500 BST), Heracross (500 BST), and Snorlax’s pre-evo Munchlax.
  3. Built-In 5× Anti-Duplicate Pity (OWNED_WEIGHT = 0.2): Every species in the pool has its spawn weight multiplied by 0.2 once you own it (owns(p.dex)). That means unowned Pokémon are 5 times more likely to appear than duplicates, keeping late-game Pokédex completion fast and fair!
  4. BST Rarity Curve (RARITY_FLOOR = 0.3): Stronger base forms (like Lapras or Dratini) scale linearly down to 0.30× weight compared to the lowest-BST bugs, making high-BST single-stage catches exciting without turning them into impossible 1% rolls.
  5. Duplicate Consolation Reward: Whenever you do encounter a Pokémon you already own, the game automatically grants you 1 Free Potion (+35 HP battle item) via SHOP.grant('potion', 1)!

How to Farm ₽ in the Game Corner (5×5 Cascade Slots)

When your wallet is low—or when you want risk-free ₽ without wagering in the Arena—open the Game Corner from the main menu (showGameCorner()).

Game Corner Payout Math (gamecorner.js)

Each round costs ₽15 (STAKE = 15) and fills a 5×5 grid with 25 Pokémon tiles divided into 5 BST Rarity Tiers (from weakest to strongest non-legendary Pokémon). You get 3 adjacent drag-swaps (SWAPS = 3) per spin:

Rarity Tier Tile Border Color Spawn Weight (%) 3-Match Base (1×) 4-Match (2×) 5-Match (4×)
Tier 1 (Common) Slate (#6b7a8f) 40% ₽1 ₽2 ₽4
Tier 2 (Uncommon) Green (#4f9d69) 27% ₽2 ₽4 ₽8
Tier 3 (Rare) Blue (#3f7fd6) 18% ₽2 ₽4 ₽8
Tier 4 (Epic) Purple (#8a63d6) 10% ₽4 ₽8 ₽16
Tier 5 (Apex BST) Orange (#f2a03d) 5% ₽8 ₽16 ₽32 + ₽400 JACKPOT!

Complete Arena Shop Pricing & +50% Hoarding Surcharge Guide

In shop.js, The Shop sells 3 Battle Consumables and 22 Evolution Items. To stop rich players from buying 99 Potions at base price, the Shop applies a +50% Surcharge (PRICE_STEP = 0.5) for each copy currently sitting unused in your inventory:

Current Price (₽) = round((Base Cost × (1 + 0.5 × Owned Count)) / 5) × 5
